This week’s charts (w/e 25/06/2005)

It’s no change at the top, with the Crazy Frog hanging on for another week, and Coldplay managing a second week at #1. I’ve not seen any release schedules, but hopefully the frog won’t stay on top for too much longer - I’d rather have a ‘proper’ song at the top of the charts. Instrumentals are OK, but not a rehashed version of a previous hit.

There are still some songs climbing up the charts, this week James Blunt and Audio Bullys climb to #2 and #3 respectively. It would be good if a record could climb to #1, but Crazy Frog has got a big buffer sales-wise - about 40,000 - so this is likely not to happen.

More interesting is The War of the Worlds appearing so high up on the album charts. The new movie version is due out soon, and soundtracks normally sell well, but I can’t help thinking that people may be getting the wrong version thinking it’s the soundtrack to the film. If they do I think they’ll be very surprised :-)
