



Well, since the last post there have been some goings-on with the charts. Downloads are now eligible one week before the physical copy. This is still pandering to the record shops though who were concerned that if songs charted on download only, they would have emptier walls for those singles that were not physically available. However, you go into a record shop these days, and you’ll be hard pushed to find the singles. They’re usually in a corner somewhere or not even marked.
Still, this has meant that the usual practice of going in at #1 has mostly been stopped, except for the occasional few big releases. Last year there were about 20-odd singles that went straight in at #1, so far there have only been 7, including this week’s McFly single.
There is talk of removing this one week rule at the beginning of next year, so we will have to wait and see what happens. This may be the start of the end of the physical single, but I guess there will always be some people that want to hold a physical copy of a single rather than going online and clicking a few buttons.




The blog is back - in case I have anything to say. Over the last few months I’ve seen and heard things but not been able to post about them. So, now I will be able to again
